Hopes Dashed

I had high hopes for today but it was'nt a good start, the plumber was late turning up and I lost my car keys while walking the dog so I was late getting out and when I did the birds weren't co-operating.

There were birds about but they all seemed to be in the next field away and views were poor. When I finally managed to get decent views there was only Herring, Common and Black -Headed Gulls, no sign of anything else with the majority of birds staying elusive.

After a few hours I gave up chasing the birds around the lanes and I went to the roost at Roosebeck and almost immediately found the first winter Med Gull with the green ring but it was still not possible to read the ring . Nearby was a 2nd Winter bird both Meds flew off heading back to the fields around Rampside.

I spent the remains of the day checking gulls at Aldingham and Bardsea then checking out the birds roosting on Cavendish Dock as it got dark.
