Started at Cav Dock which was poor the only bird of note was a single Shag, Ormsgill res was teeming with Black Headed Gull and little else 4 Gadwall being best.
Single Buzzard and Raven were the highlights of the drive to Coniston and the best thing about that was the scenery
Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man
Tarn Hows was frozen and very picturesque but birds were few and far between so I headed over to Windermere via Hawkshead, scanning from the Ferry landing 11 Goldeneye, 4 R.B.Mergansers , Mallard, Coot and Mute Swan were the fillers. Driving the minor road that hugs the side of the lake towards Newby Bridge I stopped for a scan of the lake at Cunsey first bird I saw was female Long Tailed Duck, at last a goodie.
My secret feeding station even late in the day was busy 4 Great, 8 Blue and 3 Marsh Tits, 12 Chaffinch, 2 Nuthatch all coming to the food. Nearby lurked 1 Treecreeper, 2 Great spots, 3 Blackbirds, and 2 Mistle Thrush in a nearby field . Overhead but not coming down to feed were 11 Siskin and 4 Redpoll.
Driving home along the coast road a Barn Owl was hunting at Bardsea and later in the evening while walking the big lad a Barn Owl was sat atop a road sign but as this was on Walney we won't be counting that.
