White wing wonderland.

Started the day on Walney about an hour before high tide there were about 80 light belllied Brent Geese, 4 Little Egrets, 6 Rock Pipits and loads of Waders Redshank, Curlew, Lapwing, Dunlin and Turnstone, but very few Gulls and that was what I was after.
Ormsgill resr had a handful of Black Heads and Herring Gulls, Cavendish Dock didn't have any at all but it was good to meet Fred Gould for a chat. So decided to head for Rampside when I got a text from Lou, 1st Winter Glaucous at Newbiggin outfall, wasted no time getting there but unfortunately it had drifted out to sea so views were distant but adequate.

Stopped off at home to have a bite to eat and do my chores then went back out to Rampside, in a field opposite the Gas Terminal junction there was a large flock of Gulls feeding; mostly Common and Black Heads but a few larger Gulls. They were very restless, never staying on the ground for long, but I managed to pick out a 1st Winter Iceland Gull. I was able to watch the bird feeding amongst the throng of Common and Black Heads but it was very flighty, then it vanished - it went up then gone.
I've never had Glauc and Iceland in one day before and didn't think I had much chance in Cumbria, bring on tomorrow.
